3/19/2024 0 Comments Maxon cinema 4d trialThe Maxon One bundle ($149 per month or $1,199 per year) is the best value for licensing Cinema 4D. We don't recommend that, however, because you don't get updates, which Maxon releases twice per year at least. If you prefer a perpetual license rather than a subscription, you can buy Cinema 4D R25 (two versions old) for $3,495 at the time of writing. On its own, Cinema 4D costs $94 per month or $719 per year. You can license Cinema 4D in a number of ways. As it stands, we recommend it most for anyone working in motion graphics specifically. If not for the relatively high price tag, it would be our recommended 3D modeling software to most beginners. While certain areas of Cinema 4D like BodyPaint and Thinking Particles have felt stagnant, the software as a whole does not, and Cinema 4D still embraces the joy of creation. Cinema 4D is spending its efforts wisely-adding more proceduralism, quicker iteration, and dynamic remeshing. The two releases this year, S, provide significant improvements in a number of key areas, which seems to be part of a larger-scale reworking of the software as a whole. Only studio or senior freelancer will be able to afford that, and we haven't even talk about x-particles at 1500 e that you need to add in order to use C4D in a pro context.Cinema 4D is a fun, artist-friendly 3D modeling software package that excels at rapid iteration for motion graphics in particular. Now C4D+RS is at 1000 eur / y for indies, for this price you can use instead houdini + substance + fusion/resolve + adobe PS + blender + octane/karmaXPU/cycles for the same price, for freelancer i think they are just far too expensive. I still think that C4D is the standard DCC for motion graphics, but regarding the greedy behavior of maxon over freelancer i am not sure this will last forever. Animation and Outliner are really good in the last blender version. MOPS will help on the mograph task in houdini, but not as good as C4D. it is useful for people who are not technical at all, but if you can understand houdini you won't need x-particles. X-particles is a blackbox bank of presets of the best houdini setup sell at an unreal price. It's baffling to me.Ī Blender / Houdini combo is generally what people would use to replace C4D. I've never encountered an industry where companies so wilfully ignore their core audience. It honestly blows my mind that their business model is exclusively "meh". As someone new to this industry, I'm staggered by how utterly useless and complacent software companies are. At some point, there won't be any point of moving from Blender to C4D, because the features that make C4D a good choice will be present in Blender. Those beginners are all tomorrow's professionals, and Blender's developers will continue adding features and refining the product. Right now, every single piece of advice for a beginner is "download Blender". I currently have a licence for both Modo and C4D, how many hobbyists can afford to do that?Īs the years progress, more and more creatives are going to look at 3D modelling in their workflow, and people who would have ordinarily gravitated towards photography, will be pushed towards 3D modelling. A hobbyist can't afford what I can freely spend every month experimenting with platforms, and the majority of people, myself included, do not know how to pirate software. I knew I had to learn 3D modelling, and the ONLY reason I've been able to, is because I can afford the subscription costs of multiple high end products. I'm an advertising product photographer, and realised a few years ago that my days as a physical object creative were coming to an end. Like I say, I don't use Blender, and likely won't until what I'm saying comes to pass, but most other 3D software is doomed long term.
